I'm in! They're going to let me graduate with honors publicly after all! I wasn't wrong, I was excluded by that odd rule. But they are letting me participate in the honors stuff now (I was just told not to screw up my last semester here - I've got all A's so far, at least. But even if I got C's I'd still graduate with honors, just not the top-top honor of summa cum laude that I am qualified for right now. I'd be magna cum laude.)
It's likely because I've been a squeaky wheel about the whole thing from the moment I realized I was graduating with honors but excluded, but maybe not. Maybe they're changing that stupid stipulation? Of course, my slightly egocentric fear is that they already had, and I'm just a moron for making a fuss about it. I look like an idiot so often, and I really don't enjoy the experience. Though, one could argue that must not be the case as I clearly make it happen over and over again. *sigh*
I sincerely hope they're changing the rule altogether, because it really did knock any out of state transfer students like myself. I never expected to graduate with honors, but since I am... well, those silly little things suddenly become important. And about stupid little silly things that aren't important, I'm still back and forth on the announcements thing. While the commenter on my post asking your opinions on the matter was kind of mean by telling me some would "laugh" at me (I should have made it clear that I would have "no gifts, please" on the bottom to alleviate any misunderstandings), my mother basically said I would be stupid to send any out as well. In other words, the sentiment has been echoed and now I still don't know what to do. I had better decide soon though.
I tried on my gown last night, and it turns out that trying on a graduation gown does not help any case of senioritis a college student might have. In fact, one might say it rather causes a greater level of infection. I'm very glad I ordered the 6'0-6'2 tall gown, because I have a strong feeling the shorter one would have been embarrassingly short. My daughter ran around the house in my cap, and asked why it had a huge flat top. I told her it was to balance Reese's Peanut Butter cups on. I think my answer is just as good as some of the others.
It also turns out the black gown is rather see-through. So, I suppose no bikini swimsuits allowed (or maybe I should say that they're required?) It also means no light colored dresses. Fortunately, I have two black silk dresses in mind to choose from...at least I think I do. What do people wear normally?
Ok, I really have to stop. I still have four weeks of classes to get through and planning my outfit is not productive. Fun, yes. But not productive. Time to shut up and just get it done. Yep... time to work hard. Doesn't matter if it's almost 70 degrees outside, and the grass is turning green. The trees have buds on them. The birds are singing...
Focus. I have focus around here somewhere.

That's great news! I'm so happy for you!
Congratulations:)
Impressive to graduate Magna Cum Laude -- so congrats.
I reckon it's your graduation. If you want to wear a bikini then go for it. :)
GO KYRA!! I am so excited for you!
Yes yes, send announcements. Send one to me, I want one!
Hm, since they are letting you in I won't be able to suggest you put "3.9" on your mortarboard in reflective tape, huh?
(by the way, I wore a purple dress under my gown--but I think you can wear pretty much whatever feels comfortable to you)
HEY! MAJOR PROPS! You DESERVE it! I'm so glad you got what you wanted and deserve. And on what to wear, beats me. All I know is you would look good in a trash bag.
Congratulations! : )
Yay!!! Good for you. Now focus... fo-cus... ;-)
Congratulations on the honours and on being allowed to graduate in public!
Congrats, congrats, congrats to you!
Hope you're lovin' life!
Glenda - Thankyou! (no more wandering in the woods to shacks for you though, ok?)
Brian - Thanks!
Nat - Yeah, I figure even if I totally screw up somehow and go from summa to magna it's still decent. ;) I think I'll go for an actual dress under the robes though.
Wafel - if I go through with it, I will absolutely send an announce to ya!
John - You know, the robes kind of look like they were modeled after a trashbag... which would make the caps a left over pizza box, I believe. Hmm...
Dutch - Trying to focus... not doing well... gah!
Hanlie - Thank you!
Xavier - working on it anyway! Feeling very springy today!
Excellent! Glad you're in, baby!
I'm so excited for you! I think you should send out the announcements, too... graduating from college is a HUGE feat, no matter your age and no matter the college! Go shout it from the mountain tops!
I'm so happy for you! If anyone deserves it, you do...you've worked so hard!
