I have always found the term "brunch" (usually used as "Sunday Brunch") fascinating, in a repulsive sort of way. I'm not exactly sure why. It doesn't sound appealing to me at all.
It may be that I equate the whole phenomenon with the after-church activities I was forced into growing up. Having to spend a couple hours in church (Catholic, nothing like spending at least an hour on your knees), and then a few more hours at the Sunday Brunch was torture. I mean, there were literally only hours left of the weekend, of freedom, before Monday reared its ugly head... and I was going to waste it all in service to my parents and the creepy egg dishes people always brought to those types of gatherings?!?!?!
I wanted to roller skate! I wanted to catch frogs! I did not want to sit around in a starched dress and be told that I should be a good girl, and make my parents proud when I grew up. As I didn't intend to ever grow up, this whole demand upon my person was really aggravating.
I'm just not a brunch person. But it seems like everyone else is.... are you a brunch person?
In other tangent-news... I'm working on the rules for the contest, which I will be posting tomorrow. All the details will be up, and everyone can get to work on their entry. Hope everyone has a great Sunday... even if you do go to brunch!

I equate the whole phenomenon with FOOD - therefore, ME LIKEY!
And I bet you looked nice in that starched dress.
: )
Happy Sunday K.
The brunch thing over here is all about being lazy on Sunday, hence 2 meals instead of 3. The church goers do early breakfast and then formal Sunday roast lunch - usually.
The contest is where I get to win that sunggly blanky isn't it? ;o)
It must be a "forced to go to church thing"--my boyfriend just said, "Brunch is about getting together with old people!" Which he was forced to do in his youth.
Coming from a non-church-going family, brunch to me means cosmopolitan meals with my girl friends. Ah, non-affiliated city life. :)
There is a resort/hotel about 45 minutes away and they have this amazing AMAZING brunch. If we are not going there then it's breakfast or lunch. :)
Brunch in Orlando is a lazy Sunday Funday thing as well... A group of friends get together at a restaurant nearby and grab either breakfast or lunch and have a couple of drinks. There is laughing and gossiping and happiness! I would not want to go to brunch if I had to iron a dress and sit all prim and proper... They would probably ask me to leave!
I'm a bruncher! I love brunch so much, but it is more about the food than about the company. When I was a little girl I used to LOVE going to pancake brunch on Sunday mornings at my grandpa's Shriner temple. Maybe I loved it because it meant NOT going to church that morning, or maybe it's just because those huge plate-sized pancakes were delicious and there wasn't a lot of room for the sausage on the plate so it was always covered in syrup (to this day I don't eat my sausage without syrup).
Nowadays brunch means going out to fancy breakfast places with my husband on the weekends. Eh, we're not picky, we'll go to the not-fancy diner, too. I love brunch so much that I chose to have my wedding at 10:30 in the morning so the reception afterwards could be brunch!
